FOUR CALIFORNIA DAIRIES AWARDED FUNDING TO INSTALL FIRST WAVE SYSTEM |
Four California dairy farms have been selected to receive funding for innovative manure treatment projects aimed at improving environmental sustainability and operational efficiency. The grants, awarded through the
California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP) and Dairy Plus Program, will support the implementation of Livestock Water Recycling’s (LWR) First Wave system for advanced solid-liquid separation to enhance manure management and on-farm nutrient recovery.
The recipients represent over 7,500 cattle and combine to produce approximately 416,100,000 gallons of manure annually. LWR distributor, Figure 8 Environmental, played a significant role in developing these successful funding applications. |
Another Amazing Farm Tour in February! |
Do you want to see our technology in action? |
|
| Last month I had the pleasure of joining an international group in Wisconsin for an exclusive tour of the PLANT system!
The tour started with an introduction of the farm and their operational goals through a video and case study presentation. From there, we were led on a comprehensive guided tour of the installation by an LWR ManureExpert, followed by a Q&A session with the farm owner and system operator.
As the market leader in data-driven resource recovery and nutrient optimization, we offer multiple tours of both the First Wave and PLANT system throughout the year. If you're interested in joining us, connect with me to discuss your goals for nutrient recovery and together, we'll arrange a tailored tour experience just for you! |

Clean Energy’s RNG Digester at Tri-Cross Dairy Begins Production |
|
|
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced the successful completion and operational launch of its latest renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility at Tri-Cross Dairy in Viborg, South Dakota.
The new facility sits on a 5,000-cow dairy farm and is forecasted to produce 1 million gallons annually of negative carbon-intensity RNG.
The Tri-Cross Dairy project was developed by Dynamic Renewables. LWR is proud to have been selected by Dynamic Renewables as a technology partner to process the digestate at this facility, along with a series of other projects throughout the Midwest. |

This pushes the total number of active US biogas projects to 2,251, representing $39 billion in capital investment. The new projects produce 66,000 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of biogas—an electricity equivalent to 4,000 football fields of solar panels, to powering 600,000 homes or to eliminating 600,000 gasoline cars from the road.

US Census a 'Wake-Up Call' for need for Investment in Climate-Smart Agriculture |
The recently released 2022 Census of Agriculture serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for investment in climate-smart agriculture. According to US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, there is a critical need for farmers to diversify their revenue streams by embracing climate-smart practices that give them access to ecosystem market credits and other opportunities within the circular economy. He advocates for a new model that prioritizes sustainability and supports small and mid-sized operators.
Encouragingly, the survey highlights positive trends such as the increasing adoption of renewable energy systems and precision agriculture practices. However, there is a clear call for more opportunities to support farmers in transitioning to climate-smart practices and unlocking new revenue streams.
The census report serves as a 'wake-up call' for policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize investments in agriculture that promote resilience, sustainability, and equitable growth.
LWR is on a mission to empower farmers with sustainable solutions and innovative technologies. If you are interested in learning how you can help us create a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector for generations to come, connect with us today! |
NBA Legends Visit a Georgia Dairy Farm to Learn How to Hand Milk a Cow |
NBA superstar Charles Barkley told one of his producers that he couldn’t remember the last time he had a glass of milk. The producers smiled and came up with the idea to not only have Barkley, but also his TNT show co-stars, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, who are also NBA superstar legends, to learn how to hand milk a cow.
The Benkoski family of Madison, Ga – John and Julie, along with their three daughters, Katelin, Alissa and Leah – lean into any opportunity that they can to educate people and have good positive feedback for dairy farmers. Although this opportunity was a big hit with the family, Julie was starstruck and John joked that no way the NBA stars grow to be as tall as they were without the help of milk’s nine essential vitamins. |
