Telstar's Servo Genius Makes Your Label Press Work Harder & Smarter

In a world where automation is inevitable Telstar Engineering has been leading serious label printers to labor and money saving technology.  It was about fifteen years ago when we first introduced our Servo Genius system to retrofit veteran and newer presses with the operational advantages of this emerging technology. With greater control of formerly mechanical presses, Servo Genius gave press operators superior registration along with reduced scrap rates.

Even the environment benefits along with the profitability. The single retrofit servo unit installation below demonstrates how Telstar can quickly put its Servo Genius labor and money saving advantages on virtually any label press brand. Check more of our successful installations at https://telstarengineering.com/servo-genius/ and call us today at 952-890-9440 for ways to boost your press  and press operator performance.

One die station of this Mark Andy 2200 press was converted to servo with re-register capability for finishing digitally printed webs.

Conveyors at the End of the Line Put Profits on the Bottom Line

The growing demand for smart conveyor systems is being driven by greater and greater demands for production speeds, accuracy of counts and relief from the repetitive, often difficult work required for stacking, batching, shingling, collating pre-shipment  and tasks such as small parts collection and pre-shipment counting. We’ve installed conveyor systems for all of these processes and more in some of the most challenging press room situations. A quick check of some Telstar Conveyor installations at https://telstarengineering.com/conveyors/ should spark some ideas for ways you can improve your production performance while reducing labor costs, especially at a time when skilled workers are often difficult to find.

Telstar’s Shingle Conveyor Assembly features a PLC control system with a color touch screen HMI. The PLC communicates with the parent machine for system readiness and safety shut down of the press and conveyor if a guard is removed or a jam occurs. The Upper Conveyor can be operated in either a manual mode or to automatically follow the speed of the press up to 400 FPM.

Telstar’s Small Part Shingle Conveyor can be configured to match up with nearly any label press.  The upper conveyor can be driven from the press or by its own independent drive.  The small diameter gripping rollers on the nose of the upper conveyor allow for getting in close to the die to manage small cut parts.  The lower conveyor is variable speed and the length is per customer specification.

A heavily embossed 18” long sheet that would not shingle needed to be collected into stacks of 50. The sheets  are dropped vertically into a collection box and upon reaching the sheet count, the bottom of the collection box opens-up dropping the stack onto a slow-moving take-away conveyor. A press helper palletizes the stacks for further processing. The process runs up to 200 FPM.

Onsite Engineering Gets Your Press

Retrofit Upgrades Up & Running with

Minimal Downtime

Press downtime is always a major concern for serious printers. So we established our CadToGo Onsite Engineering services to assure speedy installations of even the most complex retrofit situations. This benefit applies to cold foil, rotary die and screen units, unwinds, rewinds, nip rollers, interprint and rotary die stations, UV flexo, hot stamping, cast & cure units and especially to Telstar Mechanical-to-Servo veteran press upgrades. The process maximizes your press capabilities while taking advantage of your press room space for best positioning of new equipment integrated to your press brand and the specific job requirements. CadToGo installations typically take as little as four short hours. Frequently coupled with pre-testing on our in-house test press prior to shipment, profitable operation is returned quickly.
