This custom manufactured module unwinds a liner using taper tension control. Two lanes of hot melt adhesive are applied by slot dies while the liner wraps around a 24” diameter driven chill drum. The liner with adhesive is then laminated to the parent web.

Our servo-driven stand-alone unit prints patterns of hot melt adhesives at production rates to 250 FPM. Five heated zones are constantly monitored for consistency. Precision metering adjustment assures uniform coat weights up to 50 microns. The unit can be mounted to nearly any press or converting line. Applications include pill cards, wrist bands, business forms, and liner-less labels. Multi-Lane Unwind |
This Multi-Lane Unwind is ideal for supplying streams of magnetic stripes, foil, or reinforcement tape. Shown here applying lanes of double backed tape that has a liner on one side. Each lane is individually tensioned with a simple mechanical brake arm assembly. A grooved Teflon block rides over the edge of the backer plate providing lane guiding and very light tension. Rolls of material are held in place with a mechanical cam lock. The front support arm pivots out of the way for roll loading. Lanes can be as close as 1” apart.
