The University of Georgia will host the CHW Emergency Preparedness Training for all Georgia CHWs. This training will help participants understand their role in a public health emergency such as COVID-19. The training course will also include how CHWs should function in a public health emergency and guidelines for working with other disciplines, sectors, and organizations

MCD Public Health Community Health Worker
Online Training Program
Medical Care Development (MCD) Public Health CHW Online Training Program is intended for CHWs and health care professionals who assist clients in the prevention, management, and self-management of chronic conditions such as cancer, high blood pressure, hypertension, prediabetes, diabetes, and asthma.
The online training complements CHW in-person core competency training, with additional education, skill building, and access to resources for managing chronic conditions.
The training platform is designed to be self-paced, educational, and interactive. Downloadable handouts, resources, and helpful links are embedded throughout the training.

DPH is offering FREE access to the MCD Public Health CHW training modules focused on Chronic Disease Prevention. To create an account, please go to https://chwtraining.mcdph.org/. Fill out the registration page. By entering a Georgia zip code, an “Access Code” field will pop up. Enter code GACHW to bypass the registration fee. After completing the registration page, an email containing your username and password will be sent to the email address you entered on the registration page. Check your email to retrieve your username and password.
