Five Key Challenges Facing U.S. Manufacturing
The U.S. is witnessing a manufacturing renaissance, with companies building new facilities at a record pace not seen in decades. Spending on new manufacturing construction rose to an annual rate of $114.7 billion in 2022, a staggering 40% increase year-over-year, and a 62% increase over the past five years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
While reshoring manufacturing back to the U.S. can bring a host of benefits, such as shorter supply chains, increased national security, improved quality control and job growth, it doesn’t come without significant hurdles. An article in Supply Chain Brain outlines the five major challenges facing U.S. manufacturing. Read more here.

USA Metal Cans Market growing at a CAGR of 3.13%
The USA Metal Cans Market size is estimated at USD 20.73 billion in 2024, and is expected to reach USD 24.18 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 3.13% during the forecast period (2024-2029).

So far, public health experts believe bird flu poses little health risk to the general public. In light of recent stories regarding outbreaks of Avian Flu, poultry-processing poses unique challenges. Wet operating conditions and wash-down protocol can require specially designed line components to help ensure mandated sanitation compliance. This results in increasing pressure for manufacturers to design food-processing equipment that is easier to clean and maintain and reduces downtime.
EMTorq’s 41.358 double-flanged, C-Face Spring-Set motor brake is one such item, used widely in food-processing plants where equipment must be cleaned and sanitized daily. Harsh chemicals such as sodium hydroxide and other caustics are used to clean equipment and can be extremely corrosive. In addition to caustic chemicals, high-pressure spray is used, often up to 1,000 pounds per square inch (PSI) with the nozzle held just a few inches away from the motor brake. While this ensures all contaminants are removed from the equipment, water can enter the motors and brakes and do extensive damage if not properly designed.
EMTorq’s failsafe spring-set brakes are IP-65 wash-down rated, designed for tough, repetitive cycling, for IEC/Metric and NEMA motors, with simple and easy replacement suitable for many OEM and Retrofit applications. Learn more here. |
