CALIFORNIA'S CENTRAL VALLEY IS NOW HOME TO A GROWING NUMBER OF LWR'S FIRST WAVE SYSTEMS |
LWR's presence in California's Central Valley is rapidly expanding, as numerous First Wave Systems are helping dairy farms revolutionize the way their manure is managed. During a recent site visit, LWR's Director of Field Operations, Gabryel Marois, captured footage of the First Wave in operation under the bright California sunshine.
We're excited to share this exclusive teaser and look forward to sharing more about how California's proactive approach to manure management is setting the standard for data-driven resource recovery and nutrient optimization. Stay tuned for the full video! |

LWR's Operator Training Session Focuses on Optimal System Performance |
In April we were excited to host an in-house operator training course inside the LWR Innovation Center, designed specifically for site operators. The goal was to deepen their understanding of the First Wave and PLANT systems and learn how to enhance the efficiency of their equipment.
Over the course of two days, the training covered three essential topics: mechanical, electrical, and chemical—each fundamental to the LWR treatment process. The course was structured into two segments: classroom instruction and hands-on practice with our demo unit, SPROUT. This dual approach allowed for comprehensive learning, equipping operators with the knowledge to optimize site operations and handle troubleshooting scenarios effectively. At the end of the training, attendees were tested on their knowledge to ensure they had a solid grasp of the material covered.
If you're interested in participating in future in-house training sessions, please make sure to connect with me using the button below and I will add you to our waiting list. Our next training sessions are scheduled for this summer—stay tuned for updates! |

Understanding Coagulants and Flocculants in Water Treatment |
Greetings, environmental advocates!
I'm Hailey, Environmental Chemist at Livestock Water Recycling (LWR). Dedicated to pioneering solutions for a healthier planet, I'm passionate about optimizing processes and converting waste into valuable resources, which aligns perfectly with my profound commitment to sustainability. Join me as we explore cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices that are reshaping the agriculture and waste management sectors. Just like in other water treatment processes, the First Wave and PLANT systems harness the power of coagulants and flocculants to ensure the removal of suspended particles and impurities from liquids, such as manure and digestate. These chemicals work synergistically to improve water quality and promote sustainability in agricultural operations. |
Coagulants are the primary agents in the water treatment process. Acting as "charge balancers," coagulants neutralize the electrical charges on particles, encouraging them to clump into larger aggregates known as flocs. |
Flocculants serve as the "glue" of the water treatment process. They help form longer, denser chains of polymer molecules that entangle the suspended particles, strengthening the flocs which facilitates their removal from the water. |
In some instances, a single flocculant polymer exhibits both charge-neutralizing and adhesive properties, which can simplify the chemical treatment process.
In the context of manure and digestate management, the strategic use of coagulants and flocculants enhances process efficiency. They aid in the extraction of suspended solids and organic matter from waste streams, paving the way for the production of high-quality fertilizers or biosolids for renewable natural gas (RNG) production. The filtrate can be processed further to produce clean, reusable water. Tune in next month when I’ll be sharing more insights into LWR’s innovative manure treatment process.
