What is Annuity Suitability?
Suitability is a process of review to determine whether purchasing annuities makes good financial sense for clients. You have an obligation to ensure the products you recommend are suitable for your clients, and insurance companies have an obligation to create a supervisory system that ensures agents are meeting their obligations.
Prior to making recommendations, you must make a reasonable effort to obtain relevant information from your clients regarding their insurance needs and financial objectives. Suitability information is gathered on the Financial Needs Analysis form (form number ET-2506, may vary by state).
The Financial Needs Analysis
- Acknowledges review of the product specific disclosure statement
- Provides a method of collecting and communicating customer suitability information
- Acknowledges the suitability of the agent recommendation
