Tampa, FL (March 26, 2026) – Tampa General Hospital (TGH) leveraged innovative AI-powered technology to publish NEXT Intelligence: A Crowdsourced Framework for Health Care Affordability, a white paper built entirely from the collective expertise of hundreds of leaders across the health care industry who attended the NEXT Summit 2026, which took place Feb. 11-12 in Tampa, Florida.
The white paper represents the culmination of the Summit’s NEXT Intelligence activation, powered by Vu’s AI crowdsourcing technology, which captured 1,300-plus unique insights from more than 300 leaders spanning 16 states and 10 sub-sectors of the health care industry. The resulting framework offers a dynamic roadmap to address one of health care’s most urgent and enduring challenges: making care more affordable and accessible.

Bounce Back from Cancer™ Event Raises Over $7 Million for Cancer Research
March 27, 2026 – More than 2,000 people, including 167 teams, participated in Bounce Back from CancerTM, a partnership between Baptist Health Foundation and the Miami HEAT, on Saturday, March 14. The annual event raised over $7 million for research at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health Cancer Care.
Now in its seventh year, Bounce Back from Cancer brought the community together to dribble basketballs or walk through the streets of Miami to help fulfill the Institute’s vision of a world without cancer. The event was supported by cancer survivors and their families and friends, leaders and staff from the Miami HEAT and Baptist Health, sports fans and many others.
“It’s incredibly inspiring to experience the energy of this community, uniting to put an end to this heartbreaking disease,” said event chair Jorge Rico, co-founder and managing partner of MBF Healthcare Partners. “The caring and compassion from everyone involved, in addition to the funds raised, makes a tremendous impact for those fighting cancer.”
The Miami HEAT’s Udonis Haslem served as the event’s celebrity ambassador for the fifth year in a row. Haslem addressed the participants — who chose from 14.2-, 6- and two-miles courses and received completion medals — at the Kaseya Center finish line celebration.
“The research program at Miami Cancer Institute is growing rapidly, and funds from Bounce Back from Cancer help power its progress in cancer treatments,” remarked Joe Natoli, executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Baptist Health. “The collective support of our Bounce Back participants — including top fundraisers like our ‘Hall of Fame’ — continues to grow. Sarasota Memorial Enrolls First Patient in Novel Clinical Trial for the Treatment of Papillary Thyroid Cancer
March 26, 2026 – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMH) has enrolled the first patient in a clinical study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of a novel, minimally invasive treatment for papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) using Pulse Biosciences’ nPulse™ technology.
The study is led locally by thyroid and parathyroid surgeon Ralph P. Tufano, MD, MBA, FACS, in collaboration with Sarasota Memorial’s Kolschowsky Research and Education Institute. The trial is conducted in collaboration with principal investigator Victoria Banuchi, M.D., associate professor of Head & Neck Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. A total of 30 patients will be enrolled across the two study sites.
Patients will receive ultrasound-guided nanosecond pulsed field ablation (nsPFA™) using Pulse Biosciences’ nPulse™ Vybrance™ Percutaneous Electrode System. The technology delivers ultra-short bursts of electrical energy to targeted cells in a precise, non-thermal manner. Unlike treatments that rely on heat, nsPFA™ does not cause thermal damage to surrounding tissue, helping preserve nearby critical structures. Sarasota Memorial has been actively using the nPulse Vybrance system since 2024, which has been cleared by FDA and intended for soft tissue ablation in percutaneous surgical procedures, for the ablation of symptomatic benign thyroid nodules. This first-in-human feasibility study for the treatment of PTC is being conducted under an Investigational Device Exemption.

Celebrate Discovery at FAU’s Annual Art of Science Gallery Opening

March 26, 2026 – Florida Atlantic University’s Division of Research will open the seventh annual Art of Science gallery with a reception and awards presentation on March 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ritter Art Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
The Art of Science photography and video competition is a flagship event for the Division of Research, celebrating the convergence of scientific inquiry, research excellence and artistic expression. Winners are chosen from submissions by FAU faculty, students, staff and postdoctoral fellows that capture moments of beauty found only through conducting research.
“Art of Science shines a light on hidden gems researchers encounter every day,” said Cammi Clark, Ph.D., associate vice president, FAU University Communications, who initiated the contest in 2018 and has overseen it ever since. “Every year, we are awed by the submissions and the new perspectives they offer of the world around us and beyond.”
In addition to the remarkable images and videos on display, the opening night event will feature a special address from FAU President Adam Hasner. Attendees can also experience the FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute’s new augmented reality platform, Anatomy X, and explore an interactive, 3D model of the entire human anatomy system. New this year is a self-guided audio tour of the gallery, which will offer even deeper insights into the science behind the art. The reception includes light refreshments and opportunities to engage with this year’s winners, FAU leadership and leading research faculty.

Agency for Health Care Administration Issues Temporary Moratorium on Enrollment of New Medicaid Providers for Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies
March 26, 2026 – Today, the Agency for Health Care Administration announced that a temporary moratorium has been issued for enrollment of new Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers in the Florida Medicaid program. The temporary moratorium is being implemented to combat fraud and safeguard taxpayer dollars, while ensuring quality access to care.
“The Agency is continually looking at ways to strengthen fraud detection and prevention strategies and over the last year, we have taken intentional enforcement action to hold providers accountable and safeguard taxpayer dollars,” said Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Shevaun Harris. “This moratorium is just one example of the many efforts being put in place to curb fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicaid program and to ensure Medicaid recipients are able to receive care from high quality providers.”
The statewide moratorium will remain in place for an initial six-month period. Under this moratorium, the Agency will not accept any new applications for DME providers for Florida Medicaid enrollment . The Agency will continue processing DMEPOS provider applications submitted on or before March 20, 2026. Existing DME providers may continue to provide and bill for authorized services. READ MORE |

Advocate Radiation Oncology marks fifth anniversary of Tamarac cancer treatment center
Broward County location led by two board-certified radiation oncologists
March 27, 2026 – Advocate Radiation Oncology recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of its cancer treatment center in Tamarac, which specializes in treating breast, prostate, lung, head, neck and other types of cancers.

March 9, 2026 — Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Talkspace, Inc. (NASDAQ: TALK) for $5.25 per share. The enterprise value for the transaction is approximately $835 million, which UHS intends to finance with borrowings pursuant to its existing revolving credit facility.
Talkspace is a leading virtual behavioral healthcare company, with a network of approximately 6,000 licensed professionals that serve all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. As of December 31, 2025, Talkspace’s services were available to more than 200 million individuals through their health insurance plans, employee assistance programs, or as a benefit through their employer, school or government agency. Talkspace generated $229 million in revenue and provided more than 1.6 million therapy and psychiatry sessions in 2025.

Mayo Clinic study finds wearable data may help predict patient engagement in remote COPD rehabilitation
March 26, 2026 — Sleep data captured with a wearable device could help clinicians better tailor care by identifying patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who may need additional support to participate in pulmonary rehabilitation, according to new research published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health.
COPD is a long-term lung disease that makes it hard to breathe after airways become inflamed and narrowed and mucus builds up. COPD can also make sleeping more difficult, affecting a patient’s energy levels and overall health. These factors can influence participation in pulmonary rehabilitation, which includes a combination of exercise, education and support.
Researchers set out to understand whether a patient’s sleep quality could help predict their level of participation in remote rehabilitation activities.

Acute health threats
Across the affected area, WHO assesses the main health risks as trauma, injuries and disability; continued access to health care, especially for people who have been displaced, including for the management of non-communicable diseases, and the potential for diseases to spread in shelters; risks associated with strikes on desalination plants reducing people’s access to safe water; the potential for a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) incident with health consequences; heat-related illnesses as the weather warms; mental health distress; and respiratory diseases.
In addition to the immediate health impacts of the conflict, strikes on oil storage facilities and refineries in Iran, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia raise concerns about air
pollution and wider regional environmental exposure; and fuel shortages may affect the functionality of health systems.
Attacks on health care in multiple countries have led to health worker deaths and have wider consequences in reducing access to care in the short, and sometimes longer term, depending on the incident.

“It’s All About You”
Mar. 27, 2026 — Lee Health’s “It’s All About You,” Chronic Disease Self-Management Program” a Self- Management Resource Program with the SMRC is offering a research based Chronic Disease Self-Management program for the community.
The program is designed for people 18 years of age or older with chronic health conditions to help them learn ways to better manage their chronic conditions and the symptoms that often accompany chronic health conditions. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book, “Living a Healthier Life with Chronic Conditions.”
The workshop is held once a week for 6 weeks and they are FREE.
Workshop will be offered on:
Wednesdays beginning April 15, from 9:30– 11:30 a.m. – VIRTUAL
