HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital has named Cory Mead as its Chief Executive Officer. Mead has spent the last three years at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare’s MidAmerica Division, serving as the Chief Operating Officer for the 343-bed acute care facility.
Prior to serving as COO at Overland Park, Mead served in many HCA Healthcare leadership roles over the past 12 years, including Chief Operating Officer at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Tennessee, Associate Chief Operating Officer at Reston Hospital in Virginia, and Director of Operations at Research Medical Center in Missouri. -Net income from continuing operations available to common shareholders in second quarter 2023 was -$123 million, or $1.15 per diluted share -Adjusted diluted earnings per share from continuing operations1 was $1.44 in second quarter 2023
-Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA1 in second quarter 2023 was $843 million, including $8 million of grant income -Second quarter 2023 Ambulatory Care Adjusted --EBITDA of $369 million increased 16.4% over second quarter 2022 excluding grant income -Same-facility system-wide ambulatory surgical cases increased 6.6% versus second quarter 2022; -Same-hospital admissions increased 3.0% versus second quarter 2022, with non-Covid admissions up 5%
-FY 2023 Adjusted EBITDA Outlook increased, now expected to be in the range of $3.310 billion to $3.460 billion

ENCOMPASS HEALTH REPORTS RESULTS FOR SECOND QUARTER 2023
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 1, 2023 — Encompass Health Corporation (NYSE: EHC), the largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in the United States, today reported its results of operations for the second quarter ended June 30, 2023.
“We are very pleased with our second quarter performance,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of Encompass Health Mark Tarr. “Strong discharge growth of 9.8% combined with year-over-year improvement in labor costs to drive Adjusted EBITDA growth of 27.1%. Our value proposition and operating strategy continue to be validated and we remain highly optimistic about the long-term prospects of our business. We are increasing our 2023 guidance to reflect our strong first half results and updated expectations for the balance of the year.”
Revenue growth of 11.7% resulted primarily from increased volumes. Total discharge growth for the second quarter of 2023 was 9.8% including same-store growth of 6.2%. Net revenue per discharge grew 2.0%, inclusive of a 30 basis point decline in revenue reserves related to bad debt as a percent of revenue.
Cash flows provided by operating activities decreased 15.5% over the prior year to $206.7 million, due primarily to an increase in cash tax payments.
The 27.1% increase in Adjusted EBITDA primarily resulted from increased revenue and a decrease in contract labor expense and sign-on and shift bonuses.

August 2, 2023 – The American Heart Association’s Palm Beach County office is proud to announce its board chair and board president for the 2023-2024 fiscal year: Grasford W. Smith, J.D. and Fontaine Timmer, DNP. The board also has two new officers: Alina Alonso, M.D. and Rebecca Doane, J.D., CPA.
Dr. Alonso retired this year as the director of the Florida Department of Health-Palm Beach County, which is one of the largest county health departments in the state.
Doane is president of Doane & Doane, P.A., a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in estate planning, trusts, wills, estate and gift taxation and a certified public accountant.
This will be Smith’s second term as board chair and his fourth year on the board. He is a litigation partner with Akerman, LLP, and has practiced law for 18 years.
Board President Fontaine Timmer, DNP, is also in her second year of her role and her fourth year on the board. Timmer has served in the health care field for more than 30 years, and she is the Director of the Palm Beach Atlantic Volunteer Nursing Corps.
