KIDZ Medical Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Celebrates Three Decades of Care
By Vanessa Orr
For more than three decades, Jorge Jordan, APRN, has been providing life changing medical care to young patients, and assurance to families while their children are being cared for by KIDZ Medical Services, a South Florida multispecialty practice that cares for neonatal, pediatric and women’s health patients across 15 office locations and 19 hospital partner sites.
Jordan also plays a lead role in transporting extremely sick patients to higher-level facilities to meet their needs, all while training the next generation of nurse practitioners and physician assistants to carry on this legacy.
While Jordan originally planned to be a doctor, his father died when he was 16 and he could not afford to go to medical school. Instead, he was accepted to the Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, which gave him the opportunity to work in the NICU, pediatric ICU, emergency room, Cath Lab, SICU and trauma center, among other locations.
“Whenever overtime was offered anywhere, I took it,” Jordan explains of his depth and breadth of medical knowledge. “That’s how I earned the experience that I have.”

A New Lease on Life: Broward Health Transforms Life of Patient With Spinal Condition
Pompano Beach resident Robert Stannard, 57, is enjoying life and is back on his feet after years of pain that made even walking a struggle.
September 3, 2024 – After years of owning and operating a moving company, Stannard began experiencing severe back pain, which led to a diagnosis of spinal stenosis in 2014. The condition, which is caused when spaces within the spine narrow and exert pressure on the spinal cord and nerves, severely impacted his quality of life. Four years later, Stannard underwent a quadruple laminectomy in which part of the vertebrae is removed to create more space for the spinal cord and nerves. While the surgery provided partial relief, it didn’t fully resolve his issues.
Dr. Moskowitz performed the unexpectedly lengthy 12-hour surgery on Stannard, placing rods between the L2 and L3 and L4 and L5 vertebrae, removing lower nerves and a significant amount of scar tissue. Stannard spent a week in the hospital recovering with daily occupational and physical therapy.
“Dr. Moskowitz gave me my life back,” said Stannard. “Broward Health’s care team was incredible, and they did right by me. I feel a million times better today.”
With his newfound energy, Stannard has been able to return to his passion for collecting and refurbishing vintage cars. He has lost 83 pounds and shed 10 inches from his waist now that he is mobile again and enjoying life to the fullest. Grateful for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Moskowitz and Broward Health, Stannard isn’t taking life for granted.

Delray Medical Center becomes first hospital in Florida to treat Alzheimer’s patient with non-invasive focused ultrasound technology
Delray Medical Center recently became the first hospital in Florida to treat an Alzheimer’s disease patient using non-invasive focused ultrasound technology as part of a groundbreaking study being conducted in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention.
In the FDA-approved clinical trial, focused ultrasound technology is used to disrupt the blood-brain barrier in participating Alzheimer’s patients. Alzheimer’s may be caused by a buildup of certain proteins in the brain. Precisely guided by magnetic-resonance imaging, ultrasound waves are directed at specific areas of the patient’s brain to create a temporary opening in the blood-brain barrier where the protein buildup may be reduced. The Delray Medical Center patient enrolled in the clinical trial received the first of three treatments at the hospital in February.
