Health Choice Network Achieves Experience Level 6 for EHR Satisfaction as Measured by the KLAS Arch Collaborative

December 8, 2025 – Health Choice Network (HCN), the first funded nation-wide collaboration of health centers, announced today that they achieved Experience Level 6 for Electronic Health Record (EHR) satisfaction measured by the KLAS Arch Collaborative EHR Survey.

The 2025 survey results confirm that HCN health centers utilizing Epic Powered by HCN are among the most satisfied Epic users in the nation. HCN earned the prestigious KLAS Level 6: Elite EHR Experience designation, a distinction reserved for organizations demonstrating outstanding EHR usability and user experience.

In 2020, before any HCN health center had transitioned to Epic, the network’s overall satisfaction score was 30.9. By 2025, with all health centers who completed the survey live on Epic Powered by HCN, satisfaction skyrocketed to 68.6. Satisfaction didn’t just rise – it more than doubled after moving to Epic.

These results place HCN in the:

100th percentile for physicians, nurses, and advanced practice providers among health center-controlled networks (HCCN) organizations
98th percentile for all respondents among HCCN organizations

85th percentile for all respondents among all Epic organizations nationwide

“This achievement validates what we’ve been building toward for years – that community health centers deserve the very best technology experience,” said Alejandro [Alex] Romillo, President & Chief Executive Officer at Health Choice Network. “Epic Powered by HCN has transformed the way providers and care teams at Community Health Centers work, and the data proves it.”

Memorial Healthcare System Reports Strong First-Half Financial Results, Reinforcing Commitment to Community Investment

December 4, 2025 – Memorial Healthcare System reported strong financial results for the first half of fiscal year 2025, reflecting continued growth, disciplined management, and an enduring commitment to reinvesting in the community.

Through the first six months of the fiscal year, Memorial’s total net operating revenue increased 9.9% compared to the prior year, supported by higher admissions and outpatient volumes and a strong payer mix that allows the public healthcare system to continue serving all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

“Strong volume growth and careful expense management are allowing us to keep investing in programs and services that make a difference for our community,” said Shane Strum, interim CEO of Memorial Healthcare System. “These results reflect the hard work of 17,500 team members who remain focused on people.”

For the six-month period, admissions increased 11.9% year-over-year, hospital outpatient visits rose 7.7%, and Memorial Physician Group visits grew 9.8% as Memorial expanded access through longer hours, improved scheduling templates, and operational efficiency. Investment income reached $106.6 million, more than doubling the prior year’s total of $44.7 million.

These gains reflect both higher acuity among patients and growing demand for complex, specialized care. Memorial continues to see increased volume across oncology, neurosurgery, and cardiac services. Memorial Cancer Institute, one of only seven Florida Department of Health-designated Cancer Centers of Excellence, saw approximately 30% growth year-over-year as more patients turned to Memorial for advanced treatment close to home.

Sarasota Memorial Surpasses 20,000 da Vinci Robotic-Assisted Surgeries

Dec. 3, 2025 – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMH) has completed more than 20,000 robotic-assisted surgeries using the groundbreaking da Vinci surgical system.

SMH, which participated in early clinical trials of  robotic technology, was the first hospital in Florida – and among the first in the world – to acquire Intuitive Surgical’s daVinci S robot when it first became commercially available in 2006. Over two decades, the company has worked with SMH and other pioneering robotic surgeons to steadily advance and expand the technology, and provide unparalleled precision, dexterity and control in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board purchased its first robotic system for $1.4 million, with support from the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, to ensure local physicians and patients had access to advanced technology and treatments that were available only in a few of the nation’s top academic medical centers. Since introducing the first robot, SMH has expanded its robotic capabilities with more than 35 robotic surgeons using the latest da Vinci robotic systems across its two hospital campuses.

Nature Communications Publishes Miller School of Medicine Discovery That Could Transform Prostate Cancer Treatment

December 4, 2025   – Nature Communications has published a study led by Nima Sharifi, M.D., Desai Sethi Urology Institute (DSUI) scientific director and a member of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, that uncovers a previously unknown pathway that could explain why androgens remain and prostate cancer progresses despite treatment with androgen deprivation therapy.

The novel finding stands to transform the way we think about androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), one of the mainstays of prostate cancer treatment. ADT has relied on blocking the androgen synthesis enzyme CYP17. The CYP17 pathway has been known and characterized since 1966. It’s “textbook physiology,” according to Dr. Sharifi.

Researchers in this study uncovered a different, parallel pathway that current medicines do not target.

NCH Rooney Heart Institute Introduces Advanced Photon-Counting Cardiac CT, One of the First in the United States

December 3, 2025 – The NCH Rooney Heart Institute has installed the Siemens NAEOTOM Alpha.Peak photon-counting CT scanner, bringing one of the most advanced cardiac imaging technologies in the world to Southwest Florida and placing NCH among a select group of U.S. centers offering next-generation CT imaging.

The FDA-cleared NAEOTOM Alpha.Peak scanner is a pioneering photon-counting CT system that can generate images not attainable with other systems. Unlike conventional CT scanners, which convert X-rays to visible light before producing an image, photon-counting technology directly measures each individual X-ray photon. This results in significantly clearer, more detailed images at lower radiation doses.

NCH Gynecologic Oncology Brings HIPEC to Collier County, Offering One of the Most Advanced Cancer Treatments Available

December 2, 2025 – Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) announced that its new Gynecologic Oncology program now offers HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy), bringing one of the nation’s most advanced and specialized cancer therapies to Collier County. The treatment is usually only available at select cancer centers, but with the first successful case performed by John McBroom, MD, Gynecologic Oncologist, with assistance from general surgeon, Robert Grossman, MD, NCH now becomes one of the few providers in the region capable of delivering this complex, life-extending option.

HIPEC is used for select abdominal cancers such as advanced ovarian cancer, appendiceal cancer, certain metastatic colorectal cancers and others. It is most effective when all visible cancer within the abdomen can be removed surgically, followed by a high-dose chemotherapy bath circulated directly within the abdominal cavity to target any microscopic disease left behind. Because chemotherapy is applied internally rather than through an IV, it can be used at higher concentrations to minimize exposure to the rest of the body while reaching areas intravenous chemotherapy cannot.
