VITAS PRESIDENT AND CEO NICK WESTFALL JOINS TRANSITIONAL BOARD FOR NEW CARE-AT-HOME TRADE ASSOCIATION
January 31, 2024- President and CEO Nick Westfall of VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, has joined a proposed transitional board of directors that will serve as a guide for a merger between the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). Westfall has been a member of the NHPCO board of directors since 2020.
As executive leader of the healthcare provider that offers hospice and palliative care to more than 19,000 patients and families daily in 14 states and the District of Columbia, Westfall is joined by 19 other executives from hospice and palliative care providers and healthcare organizations across the nation. According to a joint release, the transition board will oversee the merger to a new, consolidated organization once both associations’ boards of directors ratify the agreement for the merger, which is scheduled to occur in early 2024.

Tampa General is one of just five health care institutions in the nation to offer AltaValve as an alternative to open-heart surgery.
January 30, 2024– Tampa General Hospital (TGH) celebrated excellent results from its first transcatheter mitral valve implant (TMVR), making it the first and only hospital in the Southeast to complete a mitral valve replacement procedure via a catheter. The patient suffered from severe mitral regurgitation (MR), a common heart disease that generally requires open heart surgery. The patient underwent the minimally invasive procedure in December at Tampa General’s main campus on Davis Islands in downtown Tampa and was safely discharged after just two days.

Tenet completes sale of three South Carolina hospitals and announces the sale of four Orange County and Los Angeles County hospitals and related operations.
DALLAS–February 1, 2024 — Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced that it has completed the sale of three of its hospitals and related operations in South Carolina to Novant Health for approximately $2.4 billion. Tenet also announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with UCI Health for the sale of four Tenet hospitals and related operations in Orange County and Los Angeles County, California for approximately $975 million in cash. In addition, Tenet announced that it expects to exceed the high end of its latest FY23 Adjusted EBITDA Outlook range included in its third quarter 2023 earnings release.
Tenet completed the sale of its three South Carolina hospitals and related operations to Novant for approximately $2.4 billion in cash (after-tax proceeds of approximately $1.750 billion). The completed South Carolina transaction includes Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hilton Head Hospital, East Cooper Medical Center, affiliated physician practices, and other related hospital operations. Tenet’s Conifer Health Solutions subsidiary has entered an expanded fifteen-year contract to provide comprehensive revenue cycle management services for these operations.
