ELIZABETH JUSTEN ELECTED CHAIR OF SOUTH BROWARD HOSPITAL DISTRICT BOARD
August 4, 2023 – The South Broward Hospital District’s Board of Commissioners elected officers at its annual meeting in July. Elizabeth Justen was chosen as chair, Steven Harvey will serve as vice chair, and Douglas Harrison becomes secretary/treasurer.
The board, whose seven members are appointed by Florida’s governor to provide governance for Memorial Healthcare System, also includes Jose Basulto, Brad Friedman, Dr. Luis Orta, and Laura Raybin Miller.
Justen, a Hollywood resident, is executive director of the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, a nonprofit organization which funds community programs and initiatives. She is also a manufacturer’s representative at OFB Marketing and the owner at The Marketing Experience. She was appointed to the board in 2020 for a four-year term.

August 7, 2023 – Urologist Mohammed T Azaiza, D.O. has joined Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians providing services throughout Broward County.
Dr. Azaiza’s focus areas include voiding dysfunction, enlarged prostate, kidney stones, female urology, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, low testosterone and urological cancers.

SYLVESTER RESEARCHER, COLLABORATORS RECEIVE NIH GRANT TO STUDY NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR AT-HOME CANCER CARE
August 6, 2023 – Researchers with Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and collaborating organizations will be studying how new technology can help cancer patients manage symptoms and related stress from cancer treatment while at home, under a five-year, $3.5-million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The grant, titled “Managing symptoms and psychological distress during oral anti-cancer treatment,” is part of NIH’s Oncology Research Program that focuses on moving research from cancer centers to the community.

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of global mortality, underscoring the critical importance of this pioneering development. The study, published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, introduces a self-paced, multi-chambered human heart model, approximately half the size of a rice grain.

August 9, 2023 – For the fourth consecutive year, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Resuscitation Quality Gold Achievement Award in the neonate and infant category due to its commitment to treating in-hospital cardiac arrest, and ultimately helping to improve patient survival rates.
More than 200,000 adults and children have an in-hospital cardiac arrest each year, according to the American Heart Association. Survival from cardiac arrest is largely dependent on timely medical emergency team response and effective CPR.
The Get With The Guidelines – Resuscitation program was developed to help save lives of patients who experience in-hospital cardiac arrests by consistently following the most up-to-date research-based guidelines for treatment. Guidelines include following protocols for patient safety, medical emergency team response, effective and timely resuscitation (CPR) and post-resuscitation care.

PALMS WEST HOSPITAL ROBOTICS NIGHT OFFERS HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE
August 8, 2023- HCA Florida Palms West Hospital celebrated its accreditation as Palm Beach County’s first Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by inviting the public to try their hand at the intricate maneuvers of robotic surgery.

Trulieve Reports Second Quarter 2023 Results Highlighting Progress on 2023 Plan Sold 11.6 million units of branded product through branded retail, up 9% sequentially Maryland dispensary traffic increased 200% in July with adult use launch Industry leading U.S. retail network of 183 dispensaries, up 11% year over year, supported by over 4 million square feet of cultivation and processing capacity as of June 30, 2023
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Aug. 9, 2023 — Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (CSE: TRUL) (OTCQX: TCNNF) (“Trulieve” or “the Company”), a leading and top-performing cannabis company in the U.S., today announced its results for the quarter ended June 30, 2023. Results are reported in U.S. dollars and in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles unless otherwise indicated. Numbers may not sum perfectly due to rounding.
Q2 2023 Financial and Operational Highlights*
Revenue of $282 million, with 96% of revenue from retail sales. Excluding deferred revenue, retail revenue increased by $3 million sequentially driven by increased traffic and volume partly offset by price compression. Achieved GAAP gross margin of 50%, with gross profit of $142 million. Reclassification of idle capacity expense to COGS resulted in $2 million of tax savings. SG&A expenses lowered by $4 million sequentially to $96 million.
Reported net loss of $404 million. Adjusted net loss of $15 million* excludes non-recurring charges, asset and goodwill impairments, disposals and discontinued operations. Goodwill impairment was triggered by the recent stock price performance and is not connected to management’s forecasts. Achieved adjusted EBITDA of $79 million*, or 28% of revenue. Generated cash flow from operations excluding tax payments of $98 million year to date.
Inventory reduction initiatives drive $24 million in cash generation year to date. Cash at quarter end of $160 million. Realized record traffic, customers served, and units sold on 4/20 holiday, up 10%, 11%, and 9%, respectively, year over year. Sold 11.6 million units of branded product through branded retail, up 9% sequentially. Opened five new dispensaries in Macon, Marietta, and Newnan, GA, Apache Junction, AZ, and Limerick, PA.
Relocated one dispensary in Phoenix, AZ and one dispensary in Fort Myers, FL. Exited California retail assets and commenced wind down of operations in Massachusetts as part of cash preservation and generation plan to bolster business resilience. Ended the quarter with 32% of retail locations outside of the state of Florida.
