Additional guidance for employers about Washington’s delayed long-term care tax was issued March 25 by the Employment Security Department.
Employers should not withhold the long-term care tax at this time because the effective date of contribution collection was moved to July 1, 2023, the department said in its monthly employer newsletter. Employers that withheld long-term care tax from employees before the program was delayed must reimburse employees within 120 days of withholding the tax, it said.
