March

With the month of March, we welcome the spring season. The start of Spring is often thought of the season of new beginnings where everything seems to start to come to life again. We can enjoy warmer temperatures, extended daylight and start opening up the windows to let the fresh air in. In historic restoration, many projects involve opening “windows” to the past.  It may not bring the same fresh air and feeling that the smells of spring bring but historic paint investigations are vital at opening windows into the original design scheme and the history of what once was. The historic paint investigations can bring a fresh look into the past and bring excitement that can propel projects forward.

You can learn more about what happens during a historic paint investigation and why they are key in the restoration of historic structure here.

March Is Also A Time To Celebrate Female Leaders

(National Women's History Month, International Women's Day, Women in Construction Week...)

So it's a perfect time to celebrate Dorothea Canning-Hennessey.  Dorothea is a Principal and Vice President of the firm with over twenty years’ experience in all aspects of business operations and project management.  She is the woman who works her magic in the background juggling multiple hats to keep things running smoothly. Her education in construction management has led to automating the company’s information systems taking advantage of the efficiencies provided by up-to-date technology for managing finances, compliance reporting, and overall customer service. She is responsible for the successful managing of landmark restoration and conservation projects while upholding rigorous standards in the project administration and execution to bring all projects within budget and on schedule. She has been a vital force in making the company what it is today and where it will be in the future.  The company is very grateful and proud to have such a strong amazing leader in Dorothea, who is committed to upholding the quality, integrity, and accuracy that John Canning & Co. is known for.
