Do you have a Canning story from the past 45 years?

We would love to hear from any of our team members (owners, contractors, engineers, architects) that we have had the pleasure to work with over the years. If you have a story, favorite memory or something that you want to share, feel free to send us an email.

July

July marks the point where we are now more than halfway through the year.  This is not just a time for taking and planning vacations but it is also a time when a lot of projects are in the planning phases.  There are a lot of components that go into planning a project some of which include assembling the right team, determining the budget, and writing specification documents for the various scopes of work. Our expertise with projects involving historic structures has allowed us to support all stages of construction from planning and design through completion with our project management and construction services.  If you are in the project planning phases, you might find some of our blogs were we share our knowledge on how to write specs for certain scopes helpful. A couple of the blogs on specifications that we have available are listed below.

John Canning & Co. Timeline

A lot has happen since the formation of the John Canning & Co. and even after years of historic restoration on some of the country's most prestigious landmarks we remain awestruck by the majesty and history that these buildings hold, and are most honored to help keep their history alive. We are grateful for the opportunities we have had as well as for the people we have worked with and met along the way.  In celebration of our company's 45th Anniversary, we are opening the door to give a glimpse into some of the projects, awards, and events that have happened through the years with the launch of our timeline.  Check out the website timeline here.

It is with great honor that we accept our Fourth Bulfinch Award. John Canning & Co. has earned the 2021 Bulfinch Award in the Craftsmanship/Artisanship category for the Decorative Finishes and Artwork work completed at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT.  A complete beautification effort to restore elegance and integrity to the church interior was performed and included extensive investigative studies and design work along with the executed Tondos.

Special thanks to the exceptional talents of Robert Benson Photography for capturing the beautiful finished restoration for this and so many other award winning projects.

Congratulations to all the other Award winners including David Scott Parker Architects for the Historic Preservation award for the Mark Twain Mahogany Suite project. We were happy to be a part of Mark Twain Mahogany Suite project team and receive the 2020 Bulfinch Award in the Craftsmanship/Artisanship category for our work in that project as well.
