Do you have a Canning story from the past 45 years?
We would love to hear from any of our team members (owners, contractors, engineers, architects) that we have had the pleasure to work with over the years. If you have a story, favorite memory or something that you want to share, feel free to send us an email.
Now that it is October, educational institutions are in full swing with classes, lectures, and activities in hopes to further advance the academic goals of the students and inspire them to new heights. If you subscribe to the Canning Liturgical Arts (CLA) Newsletter, you know last month's topic was focused on Sacred Architecture of Education. Discussing whether the chapel be new design as was the case at Hillsdale College and Thomas Aquinas College or historic restoration as St. Mary Chapel at Boston University and Battell Chapel at Yale University or even, repurposed as with the chapels at Elms College and the Culinary Institute of America, it would appear that schools were and continue to be founded on the idea that faith and morals offer structure and shed light on the pursuit of learning.
The school campus buildings and the art work and decoration they contain intend to inspire the youth. Murals are just one of those powerful works of art and have the special opportunity to influence and inspire young adults on college campuses beyond the sacred settings of the school chapel. In one of our latest blog we take a look at the basic steps in the process of mural restoration for college campuses buildings beyond the sacred spaces such as libraries, and classrooms.
